Abstract
Strategies for preventing cancer and allowing for the detection of cancer at an early and curative stage would be more effective if they were based upon a thorough understanding of the natural history of gastric cancer. Correa and others pus
forword a
hypothesis of gastric carcinogenesis for intestinal type of gastric carcinoma. We studied gastric carcinomas by classifing it according to Lauren's intestinal and diffuse types and to see if there is any difference between the types and
parameters
such
as gastric juice pH, bacterial count, bacterial nitrate reducing capacity and nitrite concentration in the gastric juice.
The results of this study suggest that there is no difference in the pH of gastric juice between the types of gastric carcinoma. Furthermore there were no differences of the other parameters such as bacterial counts, nitrate reducing capabilities
of the
bacteria and nitrite concentration between the two types. In conclusion, there is no difference in the intragastric juice pH. nitrite concentration and microorganisms between intestinal and diffuse types of gastric carcinoma.
